Resumen
En base a una rigurosa descripción histórica, geográfica y social del antiguo barrio de la Merced, en el centro histórico de la ciudad de México, los autores contrastan su intensa movilidad de las poblaciones en tránsito que la habitan ejerciendo el comercio y los oficios; con la novedosa creación de identidades complejas, distintas a los de otros barrios urbanos, donde se recrean a su modo la cohesión y las identidades.

Abstract
Based on a rigorous historical, geographical and social description of the old neighborhood of the Merced, in the historic center of Mexico City, the authors contrast its intense mobility, with the population in transit that inhabits it, exercising commerce and trades; with the innovative creation of complex identities different to other urban areas, where they recreate cohesion and identity in their own way.
