Resumen
Los autores centran su atención en los estudios de la Crónica mexicana, para reafirmar que la disciplina histórica debe considerar los elementos que configuraron el lugar social en el que se sitúan los cronistas, aproximándose cautelosamente a las condiciones que permitan identificar un manuscrito como producto de la construcción de una autoridad para plantear discusiones sobre pasados ajenos, pero con intenciones específicas en el propio presente.

Abstract
The authors focus on studies of the Crónica mexicana, sustaining that historical discipline must take into account elements that shaped the social place surrounding the chroniclers, cautiously approaching the circumstances that make it possible to identify a manuscript as a product of the construction of an authority to promote discussions about the past of other peoples, but with specific intentions in the present.
