Resumen: Este ensayo muestra un momento crucial para la historia de la fotografía mexicana: 1978 fue el arranque para crear nuestro propio recuento, a partir de la exposición y el catálogo "Imagen histórica de la fotografía en México". Lejos de los designios europeos y norteamericanos se dio paso a la gesta de una diversidad de textos que, con los años, han creado una importante y amplia historiografía del tema. Se señalan además algunas de las más destacadas obras y su importancia en el entorno mexicano y latinoamericano como una aproximación inicial para mantener fresca la memoria de este andar entre letras, historias e imágenes.

Abstract: This paper shows a turning point in the history of Mexican photography: 1978 was the start to create our own account, with the exhibition and catalog "Historical image of photography in Mexico." Outside the European and American designs gave way to the achievement of a variety of texts that, over the years, have created a strong and extensive historiography of the subject. Also some of the most outstanding works and its importance in the Mexican and Latin American environment as an initial guess to keep fresh the memory of this walk between letters, stories and images are noted.
