Resumen

Se rescata la labor de Francisco Juliao entre 1973 y 1975 quien aportó empatía y el saber escuchar en un ejercicio pionero de historia oral. Así  recuperó el testimonio de doña Gregoria y de 200 ex combatientes zapatistas de los estados de Morelos, Puebla y Guerrero.

Abstract

This text rescues the work of Francisco Juliao between 1973 and 1975 who empathy and the gift of listening in a pioneering exercise of oral history. In this way he recovered the testimony of Doña Gregoria and 200 former Zapatista fighters of the states of Morelos, Puebla and Guerrero.

Resumen: El presente artículo reseña la experiencia colectiva y personal que significó el participar en el grupo de estudiantes formados por las historiadoras eméritas Alicia Olivera de Bonfil y Eugenia Meyer, quienes  se propusieron la construcción del Archivo de la Palabra del INAH. Proyecto que inició y fue coordinando  por ellas en la década de 1970. En esta oportunidad se pretende mostrar los aportes historiográficos de las fuentes orales en los estudios de la Revolución mexicana y, junto con los documentos sobre el movimiento zapatista catalogados por la autora, reflexionar sobre  la creación de estereotipos en torno a los pros y contras de la historia oral y respecto al periodo revolucionario de principios del siglo XX. Al tiempo que se comentan los mitos que la historia oficial y popular han construido sobre personalidades que tuvieron un fuerte liderazgo basado en el carisma popular, como Emiliano Zapata y sus oficiales; lo mismo que sobre la muerte de este famoso dirigente campesino y su papel político y social en el movimiento armado.

Abstract: This essay reviews the collective and personal experience of those who were part of the group of students brought together by Historians Emeritae Alicia Olvera de Bonfil and Eugenia Meyer, who set out to construct the Oral History Archive of the INAH (National Institute of Anthropology and History). A project initiated and coordinated by them in the 70s. This paper will present the historiographical contributions of oral sources to the study of the Mexican Revolution and, along with the documents on the Zapatista movement cataloged by the author, reflect on the creation of the stereotypes as to the pros and cons of oral history and regarding the revolutionary period at the beginning of the 20th century. While at the same time commenting on the myths which official and popular history have constructed about the persons who showed strong leadership capabilities based on popular charisma, such as Emiliano Zapata and his officers; as well as on the death of this famous peasant leader and his political and social role in the armed movement.
